• Diseases of the stomach
• Development anormalies
• Intestinal and abdominal vascular disorders
• Diarrhoeal diseases
• Inflammatory bowel diseases & colonic diverticulosis
• Other conditions
i. Gastrointestinal lymphoma
ii. Appendicitis
iii. Tumors of the git
• Diseases of the liver, gall bladder, spleen and the pancrease

ASSIGNMENTS
1. EXPLAIN THE REGULATION OF FUNCTION OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT

2. DESCRIBE THE PHYSIOLOGY OF THE LIVER, GALL BLADDER, SPLEEN AND PANCREAS

3. ELABORATE ON THE EMBRYOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL SYSTEM

-the study of diseases
-the study of disease process, and the associate functional dan structural changes in tissues and organs

PATHOGENESIS (why + how)
-mechanism by which organic disease occurs

LESSIONS (what)
-structural changes or alteration of tissues

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
-the study of alteration of functions as a consequence of disease
the study of functional consequences of a diseased organ

ALTERATION OF FUNCTION
-increased ==> hyperfunction
-decreased ==> hypofunction

(vital organ)
insufficiency===>failure======>DEATH
