2. GROUP LEADER

Please elect a group leader for each group. Group leader will take responsibilities to:
       i.  To remind their group members to write necessary report when needed (please refer below)
       ii. To give report periodically to Puan Sairah about the group progression & problems.
       iii. To deliver any important info from management to their group members


3. STARTING DATE

Please be informed that clinical training will start on 1st of July 2009 for all groups.

Please gather in front of MSU at 8am on 1st of July (Wednesday), complete with formal attire, white coat, & all necessary things (hospital Jempol, please refer below) & equipment (steth, handbooks, etc).

MSU will be providing Buses for IPR, Jempol & Serdang hospital.

Any of you would like to go to Jempol by your own transportation, please keep me informed. Please SMS or call me.


4.  ACCOMODATION & TRANSPORTATION

For the 1st group to Jempol, you will be staying in a hall at Jempol Hospital. Thus, you need to bring following items :
      i. Anything for sleeping (toto, comforter, pillow, etc)
      ii. Toiletries
      iii. Curtains
      iv. Iron
      vi. etc

Next group to Jempol will be accommodated in different place.

Other groups will travel from MSU to Serdang & IPR by bus, everyday, while mode of transportation for Jempol group is by walking.


5. GUIDELINES DURING INTERNSHIP

Case Study Report
During each placement (total four), you must complete a case study report for each placement. Thus, total of 4 case study report must be submitted at the end of clinical internship. You may refer to "case report guidelines doc" & "example of case report$ doc".

Case report for forensic medicine will be a little bit different. Please refer to your supervisor.


Community Medicine Report
Community medicine report must be filled up at the beginning of each placement by discussing it with your supervisor. You must review with them to see how well you have achieved those objectives at the end of each placement

Clinical Diary
Every week, you must write on clinical diary on what you have done & achieved within the weeks. Please refer to "clinical diary doc" for further info. At the end of each placement, you must have total of 4 clinical diary. Overall, 16 clinical diary must be submitted at the end of clinical internship.

Clinical Diary for forensic medicine will be a little bit different. Please refer to your supervisor.

Group leader will keep you reminded.

Please take note that you are not allowed to share same cases. Grading will depend on your report.


5. ATTIRE DURING INTERNSHIP

Please make sure you wear formal attire. No jeans are allowed. Working period is from 8am - 5pm

MSC Update!

Hello BMSian,

Here are some updates from Medical Science Club:

Upgrading MSC

1. Now all of you can get any updates regarding to MSC and BMS such as activity, info and news at MSC newsboard located infront of the FHLS office at the 2nd floor block C MSU.
2. All BMSian must pay RM5.00 to Bureau Publicity & Information (also known as class rep) before this Friday as the MSC fees and your MSC member card. You will get the member card minimum 1 week after payment.

Charity

1. If all of you have any problem regarding to MSC, BMS or MSU you can fill the feedback form that will distributed by Bureau Publicity & Information during class. You also can ask this bureau about the form anytime. We will try to solve your problem.

Merchandise

1. If all of you are interested in buying MSC merchandise please contact with Bureau Inventory & Transportation. The MSC merchandise is listed below:

c. Button Badge : RM 2.50

Main Activity

1. MSC has request from HOD to insert a Pharmacology class for group that don’t have this subject in their subject syllabus during this semester. Group that will go to the practical this July your timetable has been arranged. For group that will go to the practical next semester your class timetable for this subject is in process. You will be update later.
2. MSC will try to arrange a talk and workshop that related to the medical science every month.
3. For group semester 1, you all will have an orientation with MSC in a coming day. Later you will be update by your bureau.
4. By next week, for those taking subject normal system (such as respiratory, CVS, GIT system, etc) and all BMSian that is still not clear regarding to the MBBS and career after BMS, we will have a meeting with HOD. Place, time and date will be informed later by your bureau.

Project

1. Listed below is some of the project that MSC will organized during this semester. Please give support to this program. To those are interested to become this project committee please ask your bureau.

a. 25th June : 2nd Hepatitis Vaccination, Exhibition and Medical Checkup
b. 30th June – 2nd July : Health Science Book Fair
c. 11th July : Medical Quiz Competition
d. 17th July : MSC Pot Luck
e. 25th July : Futsal Competition
f. 14th – 16th August : Community Service North Tour in collaboration with World Kindness Day
g. After final exam : Healthcare Expedition to Vietnam

2. If some of you would like to organize an event under MSC please contact with me.

Mentoring Update

1. There are three modules in the mentor-mentee activity. Each module for 1 semester and must be registered during semester registration. These 3 modules is 0+1 and divided to communication skill, study skill and community service. All modules only can be completed by attending your mentor-mentee activity. For those who still didn’t register these 3 modules before this please do it and refer to your mentor.
2. For those have a problem with your mentor-mentee activity please contact with HOD.

Registration

1. For those add a subject during past registration please use the new add/drop form for this process. If you just add by pencil at the registration form given by your mentor, your added subject will not be process.

If there is any update in the future I will inform later. Hope to see all of you on this Thursday during MSC hepatitis vaccination program.

Announcement

Assalamualaikum & hye...

Good day everyone.

1. Timetable

Timetable is now available at Block C MSU, in front of FHLS office. Please go there and get a copy of your timetable. Class will start by this week. Contact your class rep about the classes.


2. Pharmacology Class

To all senior group (A&B) members, we will have pharmacology class starting on this week. Please refer the following timetable.


Thursday (25th June) : 10-12am
Friday (26th June) : 2.30-4.30pm
Monday (29th June) : 10-12pm
Tuesday (30th June) : 02-04 pm
*Venue : Annexe S39
*Lecturer : Miss Halijah (BBM lecturer)

For Agus group, lectures for pharmacology will be held later.


3. Clinical Internship

Please be informed that starting date for clinical internship is still not yet confirmed but it will be on July. Briefing will be held by this week or next week.

Please be ready for the internship. Following are some books & gadget suggested for you to have for the training.
   i   ) Medical white coat  with no logo except MSU logo (around RM40)
   ii  ) Stethoscope (around RM150-250)
   iii ) Tendon hammer (around RM35)
   iv ) Pen torch (around RM12-15)
    v ) Handbook of Clinical Diagnosis (around RM50-80)
   iv ) Handbook of Clinical Medicine (around RM50-80)
  iiv ) Others

Please do not forget to revise all topics regarding to clinical anatomy (especially for Forensic rotation), Pathology (for Community Medicine at hospital Jempol & IPR), Physiology, pharmacology & clinical medicine.


4. Name tag

To all of senior members, you are compulsory to pay RM10 for name tag. The other group are encouraged to do so especially for Group C members that will go for clinical training on November. Payment can be done to Mohana Priya or your class rep before this Thursday.

Attention to student who are taking Community Service

Good morning and welcome back to all student
To all student who are taking subject on community service this semester.

1.There will classes on Pharmacology starting next Tuesday. time table will out on

Monday.This will be conducted every day 2 hours per day

2.Please pay Rm10 to Mohana Priya for Name tag by Tuesday.This tag will used during

our intenship.compulsary for all student who will doing community service.
