Attention to all students who took Pathophysiology of Gastrointestinal system for this semester:-

1- Please be alert for your attendance to the class:
- Thursday – 4-6pm (Anx 78)
- Friday – 4.30pm – 6.30 pm (Hematology Lab)[Group A]
- Saturday – 8am-10am ( Hematology Lab)[Group B]
- 10-12pm (Anx 22)

2- If holiday on Friday, the lab session for group A will be combine with group B on Saturday.

Announcement for Rizuan's group

Assalamualaikum & hai..

Following announcements are for 1st batch of BMS  (Rizuan's group).


A) Forensic Medicine lecture series

**After we have finished our practical on forensic, now we will have series of lectures in forensic medicine that will be given by Dr Halim, a part time forensic MO. 

**All of us are compulsory to attend this lectures as quizzes & assignments will be given. We will also sit for midsem & final exam for this subject. 

**Classes will start on next week on every Saturday from 9am till 1pm in Hall F. 

**No subject registration or extra payment is needed because this is a continuation of forensic subject.

B) Any of you had submitted your evaluation form to your supervisor, please get it back & give it to me as soon as possible, so I can passed it to Head of Department. Inability to do so may affect your marking.

C) For those who did not attend any session of final case presentation, you are compulsory to meet Miss Najihah on next Wednesday (9th Dis 09) in G06 at 11 o'clock. Name list of absentees will be posted in MSC website later.

D) New time table for Communicable Disease is as follow :

    CASE PRESENTATION AND VIVA FORMAT

    Presentation (1st & 2nd December 2009)
    -Students must present one of their long cases by power point format.
    -They must have their presentation power points in a pen-drive.
    - Time : Only 15 minutes for each student
    - We will check, your presentation skill, structure of your presentation and
       all data and information about your case that you will present.
    - Students must attend  for all  presentation.
    - Presentation format must be like a format which I told you.
        Including:
    •    Patient ID information (name, age, race,…)
    •    Chief Complaint
    •    Present illness
    •     Past Medical History
    •    Drug History
    •    Family History
    •    Social History
    •    Review of System
    •    Physical examination
    •    Summary
    •    Diagnosis & Differential Diagnosis
    •    Lab and other medical investigation results ( Optional)


    VIVA (14th & 15th December 2009)
    -    Students must sit for viva one by one base on the schedule.
    -    One of the three examiners will be student’s supervisor.
    -    The examiners will ask you any question related to your long and short cases and also your logbook.
    -    The examiners will ask you some questions about History Taking, Physical Examination, Duties of medical staff and some other questions about working in a hospital and what you have done during this course. For instance, they maybe ask about Triage.
    -    During Viva you won’t be asked to present a case.
    -    Time: 15 minutes for each student.

    Today (20th November 2009) evening at 6 pm, the MSC organization lead by me for session May - November 2009 has been dissolved officially during MSC committee meeting. This also means, today is the end of my career as the MSC President and also for some of the committee. I would like to say thank you to all of you especially Dr. Sairah & Mdm Haniza, my committee Syafinaz, Hafis, Adah, Cecci, Darren, Dian, Najmi, Helmy, Syafrinawati, Faridah, Eni, Mohana, Agus, Kalan, Arif, Afiq, Saiful, Aman, Nadia and Nabilla for all of your hardwork & support in organizing the successful activity for over this past-past month. All the memory with all of you since the first time i been elected as the MSC President during the MSC AGM in May 2009, then H1N1 Seminar, Mount Berembun Climbing, 2nd Vaccination Program, Book Fair, Orientation, Medical Quiz, Networking Week, Futsal, Club Carnival, North Tour and end with the MSC 1st Anniversary Lectured will i remembered forever. I really enjoyed & happy during leading this club. I also would like to apologize from all of you if there are any mistake that i have done. Hopefully in the future we still can cooperate again.     MSC Update!

    Salam & Hello BMSian!

    Firstly i would like to wish welcome back into the new semester. Hopefully all of you will be excited to continue the study. Here i have some update for all of you:

    1. For those who are involved in the November 2009 internship please take note that this coming saturday (21st November 2009) all of you will have a briefing with Ms. Najihah (new BMS Program Manager) at C218 at 10 a.m. Please tell your friends and make sure to attend the briefing.

    2. The MSC@Leisure: Motivation Camp that supposedly to be organized at the end of the last semester now will be canceled for some reason. Hopefully we will reorganized it again in the future.

    3. The new MSC committee line-up and advisor will be reveal by this week. There are also probably a little bit changing of the Medical Science Club logo.

    4. For those are involved in MSC@Leisure: Mount Berembun Climbing & MSC@Charity: Community Service North Tour, please collect your certificate of attendance from me ASAP.

    5. Regarding to BMS changing from FHLS to IMS, next week monday (23rd November 2009), we will have a meeting with IMS dean. The attendance is compulsory. Time & place will be updated soon.

    NEW UPDATE : Case presentation & viva for senior batch

    Assalamualaikum & hai...

    To all senior students who had completed their clinical internship, please be informed that we will have case presentation & starting on 30th November until 4th December 2009.

    Viva will be postponed to 14th December till 18 December

    For case presentation, please choose any one of your long case & one short case. You MUST present both of it in power point format. For short case,  couple of slaid is enough. Few doctors will be judging us.

    For viva, few doctors will ask few questions regarding to clinical internship & diseases. The questions may cover:
    1. Common diseases found in hospital (ex MI, HTN, CVA, DM, etc) 
    2. Common procedure in hospital(venipuncture, cannulation, suture, nebuliser, CPR, etc)
    3. Simple management in hospital (ABCDE, resus, IV drip, etc)
    4. etc

    Name list for presentation & Viva are as follow.

    Final date for Clinical diary/Case study/Community Medicine reports submission is on 22nd November 2009. Failure to submit before or during the date, you will be considered lost all your marks for reports.

    Hello BMSian,

    Our Dean, Prof. Dr. Asbi Bin Ali has told me that MSU President, Prof. Dato' Wira Mohd Shukri Abd. Yajid has approved the movement of BMS from Faculty of Health & Life Sciences (FHLS) to International Medical School (IMS) starting this semester November 2009. From that time, BMS will be fully managed by IMS and lead by our next Dean, Dato' Dr. Abd. Gani.     MSC Update!

    Hello BMSian,

    Changing Portfolio

    1. Our new MSC advisor now is Mdm Haniza Bt Harun. Based on the MSC constituition, the HOD will be automatically be the MSC advisor.
    2. Based on the last MSC meeting, all committee has decide that our new Vice President II is Mohd Hafis Zul Arif and new Chief of Bureau Inventory & Transportation is Mohd Helmy Abu Bakar.

    Meeting

    1. Mdm Haniza Bt Harun, our new Head of Department and Advisor will have a meeting with all BMS students on this Thursday at Hall F at 12.00 p.m. Please spread this info around. Attendance is compulsory.

    Networking Week

    1. Movie Night 13th & 14th July 2009 (Theater Hall, 8pm).
    2. Medical Crossword Puzzle Competition 13th - 16th July 2009. Please ask your class Bureau for a competition form. It's FREE and a lot of prizes can be won.
    3. Pot Luck 17th July 2009 (Hall H, 8 pm). Please come and bring your food so we can share it with each others.

    MSC Update!

    Hello BMSian,

    CLASS

    1. Pathophysiology of reproductive & musculoskeletal system class will be start by this week but depend on the lecturer.
    2. Normal system class also will start by this week except haemopoietic & respiratory system that will be start by next week.
    3. Please refer to the notice board infront of the FHLS office for the changing timetable.
    4. For 80+ semester 1 student, FHLS will provide all of you with a big class for a lectured.

    UNITY

    1. On every wednesday, all BMSian are compulsory to wear the MSC shirt. To those that still didnt buy the t-shirt please buy it through your class bureau (class representative).

    MEETING

    1. The new Head of Department, Mdm Hanizah will have a meeting with all BMS students on next Thursday (16th July). The time and venue will be update later.

    ACTIVITY

    1. MSC will organized the "Gray Anatomy" Quiz competition on this saturday (11th July) at Theater Hall MSU start at 9 am. To those who are interested please contact with your class Bureau ASAP. Fees is RM5.00 per person and RM15.00 per group consist of 3 person. The event will be lauching by FHLS dean, so all BMS students are compulsory to attend the event. A lot of prizes are waiting for the winner.
    2. 13th - 17th July MSC will organized a Refreshment Week. The content of the activity is the Movie Night, Medical Crossword puzzle Competition and Pot Luck. For more detail please contact with class Bureau.

    2. GROUP LEADER

    Please elect a group leader for each group. Group leader will take responsibilities to:
           i.  To remind their group members to write necessary report when needed (please refer below)
           ii. To give report periodically to Puan Sairah about the group progression & problems.
           iii. To deliver any important info from management to their group members


    3. STARTING DATE

    Please be informed that clinical training will start on 1st of July 2009 for all groups.

    Please gather in front of MSU at 8am on 1st of July (Wednesday), complete with formal attire, white coat, & all necessary things (hospital Jempol, please refer below) & equipment (steth, handbooks, etc).

    MSU will be providing Buses for IPR, Jempol & Serdang hospital.

    Any of you would like to go to Jempol by your own transportation, please keep me informed. Please SMS or call me.


    4.  ACCOMODATION & TRANSPORTATION

    For the 1st group to Jempol, you will be staying in a hall at Jempol Hospital. Thus, you need to bring following items :
          i. Anything for sleeping (toto, comforter, pillow, etc)
          ii. Toiletries
          iii. Curtains
          iv. Iron
          vi. etc

    Next group to Jempol will be accommodated in different place.

    Other groups will travel from MSU to Serdang & IPR by bus, everyday, while mode of transportation for Jempol group is by walking.


    5. GUIDELINES DURING INTERNSHIP

          iv. Clinical Diary


    Case Study Report
    During each placement (total four), you must complete a case study report for each placement. Thus, total of 4 case study report must be submitted at the end of clinical internship. You may refer to "case report guidelines doc" & "example of case report$ doc".

    Case report for forensic medicine will be a little bit different. Please refer to your supervisor.


    Community Medicine Report
    Community medicine report must be filled up at the beginning of each placement by discussing it with your supervisor. You must review with them to see how well you have achieved those objectives at the end of each placement

    Clinical Diary
    Every week, you must write on clinical diary on what you have done & achieved within the weeks. Please refer to "clinical diary doc" for further info. At the end of each placement, you must have total of 4 clinical diary. Overall, 16 clinical diary must be submitted at the end of clinical internship.

    Clinical Diary for forensic medicine will be a little bit different. Please refer to your supervisor.

    Group leader will keep you reminded.

    Please take note that you are not allowed to share same cases. Grading will depend on your report.


    5. ATTIRE DURING INTERNSHIP

    Please make sure you wear formal attire. No jeans are allowed. Working period is from 8am - 5pm

    MSC Update!

    Hello BMSian,

    Here are some updates from Medical Science Club:

    Upgrading MSC

    1. Now all of you can get any updates regarding to MSC and BMS such as activity, info and news at MSC newsboard located infront of the FHLS office at the 2nd floor block C MSU.
    2. All BMSian must pay RM5.00 to Bureau Publicity & Information (also known as class rep) before this Friday as the MSC fees and your MSC member card. You will get the member card minimum 1 week after payment.

    Charity

    1. If all of you have any problem regarding to MSC, BMS or MSU you can fill the feedback form that will distributed by Bureau Publicity & Information during class. You also can ask this bureau about the form anytime. We will try to solve your problem.

    Merchandise

    1. If all of you are interested in buying MSC merchandise please contact with Bureau Inventory & Transportation. The MSC merchandise is listed below:

    Main Activity

    1. MSC has request from HOD to insert a Pharmacology class for group that don’t have this subject in their subject syllabus during this semester. Group that will go to the practical this July your timetable has been arranged. For group that will go to the practical next semester your class timetable for this subject is in process. You will be update later.
    2. MSC will try to arrange a talk and workshop that related to the medical science every month.
    3. For group semester 1, you all will have an orientation with MSC in a coming day. Later you will be update by your bureau.
    4. By next week, for those taking subject normal system (such as respiratory, CVS, GIT system, etc) and all BMSian that is still not clear regarding to the MBBS and career after BMS, we will have a meeting with HOD. Place, time and date will be informed later by your bureau.

    Project

    1. Listed below is some of the project that MSC will organized during this semester. Please give support to this program. To those are interested to become this project committee please ask your bureau.

    f. 14th – 16th August : Community Service North Tour in collaboration with World Kindness Day
    g. After final exam : Healthcare Expedition to Vietnam

    2. If some of you would like to organize an event under MSC please contact with me.

    Mentoring Update

    1. There are three modules in the mentor-mentee activity. Each module for 1 semester and must be registered during semester registration. These 3 modules is 0+1 and divided to communication skill, study skill and community service. All modules only can be completed by attending your mentor-mentee activity. For those who still didn’t register these 3 modules before this please do it and refer to your mentor.
    2. For those have a problem with your mentor-mentee activity please contact with HOD.

    Registration

    1. For those add a subject during past registration please use the new add/drop form for this process. If you just add by pencil at the registration form given by your mentor, your added subject will not be process.

    Announcement

    Assalamualaikum & hye...

    Good day everyone.

    1. Timetable

    Timetable is now available at Block C MSU, in front of FHLS office. Please go there and get a copy of your timetable. Class will start by this week. Contact your class rep about the classes.


    2. Pharmacology Class

    To all senior group (A&B) members, we will have pharmacology class starting on this week. Please refer the following timetable.


    Thursday (25th June) : 10-12am
    Friday (26th June) : 2.30-4.30pm
    Monday (29th June) : 10-12pm
    Tuesday (30th June) : 02-04 pm

    For Agus group, lectures for pharmacology will be held later.


    3. Clinical Internship

    Please be informed that starting date for clinical internship is still not yet confirmed but it will be on July. Briefing will be held by this week or next week.

    Please be ready for the internship. Following are some books & gadget suggested for you to have for the training.
       i   ) Medical white coat  with no logo except MSU logo (around RM40)
       ii  ) Stethoscope (around RM150-250)
       iii ) Tendon hammer (around RM35)
       iv ) Pen torch (around RM12-15)
        v ) Handbook of Clinical Diagnosis (around RM50-80)
       iv ) Handbook of Clinical Medicine (around RM50-80)
      iiv ) Others

    Please do not forget to revise all topics regarding to clinical anatomy (especially for Forensic rotation), Pathology (for Community Medicine at hospital Jempol & IPR), Physiology, pharmacology & clinical medicine.


    4. Name tag

    To all of senior members, you are compulsory to pay RM10 for name tag. The other group are encouraged to do so especially for Group C members that will go for clinical training on November. Payment can be done to Mohana Priya or your class rep before this Thursday.

    Hello BMSian!

    Hai everyone!

    Sorry for a late post from me as a new MSC President. Firstly i want to say thank you to all BMSian who has vote me as the new MSC President and others committee as the new MSC lineup. I and the new MSC committee hope that all of you will give us a support in improving MSC and BMS. We as the MSC committee will give out of our best during our service.
